A major UK and Malta sportsbook software provider will soon make its North American debut.

Altenar recently obtained a gaming supplier licence from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO. This will enable the provider to bring its sportsbook offerings to Canada. The operator is currently licensed in 14 world markets, including Malta and the United Kingdom.

The provider has confirmed that local offerings will include eSports, US sports, and the Canadian Football League (CFL).

Building on Previous Success

According to the announcement, Altenar will officially launch in Ontario. This comes after a massive 150 per cent increase in total bets and player numbers. This increase was noted in 2021.

Altenar’s director of operations, Antonis Karakousis, said it’s a delight to bring the operator’s premium services to Ontario’s newly regulated iGaming sector. He said the company looks forward to bringing a rewarding online betting experience to a North American customer base. Altenar described Ontario’s new Canadian online casino market as exciting. Plus, it’s conducive to a tailored entertainment experience.

Karakousis also described the process of pre-entry. He said a list of highest standards had to be complied with and a full audit of the operator’s sportsbook via an independent regulatory body. He explained that meeting the extensive requirements was well worth the effort. The company views this as part of its global progress as an entertainment and sportsbook provider.

Joining the Golden Circle

Altenar will be stepping into a booming iGaming sector. Revenue figures totalling CA$162 million during the three-month period that closed on 30 June 2022 prove this.

By the end of the quarter, Ontario’s iGaming market boasted 18 operators, 31 premium websites, and around 492 player accounts.
